Visitor Information | SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis

Visitors are welcome any time of the day. However, we do recommend quiet times for specific areas to help patients achieve optimal rest during their healing process. If you arrive after 8 pm, please check-in at the security department.


Our gift shop is located on the lobby level of the hospital, just inside the front entrance. Here you’ll find a variety of unique gift items, greeting cards, and a full-service florist, as well as snacks and miscellaneous toiletry items you may have forgotten.

Monday & Tuesday: 9 am - 7 pm
Wednesday through Friday: 8 am – 7 pm
Saturday: 10 am – 5 pm
Sunday: 1 – 5 pm

The Papin Street Café

The Papin Street Café is located on the Ground Floor. From the north entrance, follow the corridor until you reach the elevators at the end of the hall way. Take the elevator down to the ground floor and you will be let off right in front of the café.

Breakfast: 7 – 9:30 am
Lunch: 11 am – 1:45 pm
Dinner: 5 – 6:30 pm
Late Night Service: 10 pm – Midnight

Saturday & Sunday (serving hours)

Breakfast: 7:30 – 9:30 am
Lunch: 11:15 am – 1:45 pm
Dinner: 5 – 6:30 pm

The café is open at additional times for grab-and-go food and beverages.

Vending Machines

Vending machines are located in the following areas:

  • Emergency department waiting room
  • Next to the Outpatient Surgery Center
  • Lower level of the H.W. Koenig Medical Building
  • Family lounge, 2nd floor
  • Ground floor, next to the cafeteria.

​​​​Our chaplains are available seven days a week from 8 am - 4 pm, offering a listening presence, spiritual support and pastoral assistance in a health care crisis.  In addition to our regular daily hours, there is a chaplain on-call 24 hours a day for emergency pastoral needs.

When you need a chaplain, please contact your nurse, or dial “0” and ask the operator to contact a chaplain for you.

  • Helping you to identify and use your faith resources
  • Assisting you in coping with fear, anxiety, and grief
  • Providing Sacraments and other religious rituals
  • Discussing advance directives and power of attorney for health care

Sacraments & Church Support

Holy Communion and Anointing of the Sick are available upon request.  We encourage you to contact your own priest or minister before you go to the hospital, or when you are admitted if it is an unexpected hospitalization, so your own church may support you as well.

The Chapel

The SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital Chapel is located off of the main lobby across from the lobby/registration.  The chapel is open 24 hours daily.
