SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital selects, Matthew Broom, MD, as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs

ST. LOUIS, MO – SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital has selected Dr. Matthew Broom, MBA, FAAP to serve as its next Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer. Broom begins his new role on Monday, June 1.
 
Dr. Broom has served as the SSM Health SLU Hospital Interim Chief Medical Officer since November 2019, while also performing full-time responsibilities as the Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer of SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. After 15 years, Dr. Broom is stepping away from his role at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, where he has contributed his expertise in a variety of clinical and leadership roles, to assume full time responsibilities at Saint Louis University Hospital.

Matt received his undergraduate degree from Saint Louis University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Most recently, he received his executive MBA from Washington University – Olin Business School and received a certificate for leadership development for Physicians in Academic Health Centers from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Broom spent more than four years in the United States Navy as a staff pediatrician and was also Medical Director of the Danis Pediatric Center at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon.
 
Through his tenure at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon and most recently at SLU Hospital, Broom’s performance has been exceptional. His efforts and early accomplishments have helped strengthen our partnership with our SLUCare colleagues and our relationships with other important offices throughout the St. Louis region and SSM Health System.
