SSM Health – Wisconsin hospitals earn 5-star overall quality ratings

MADISON, WI (July 28, 2022) – Four of SSM Health Wisconsin’s hospitals achieved the highest overall quality ratings bestowed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in 2022, earning 5-stars. The star ratings are assigned to hospitals nationwide based on their performance across five quality categories: timely and effective care, patient experience, safety of care, readmission and mortality rates.

The five-star ratings went to four SSM Health hospitals in across Wisconsin: SSM Health St. Clare Hospital – Baraboo, SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Janesville, SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Madison and SSM Health Monroe Hospital. This is the tenth consecutive time SSM Health St. Mary’s – Madison has received this highest rating, the eighth for SSM Health Monroe Hospital and the fourth for SSM Health St. Clare – Baraboo and SSM Health St. Mary’s – Janesville.

Only 429 hospitals nationwide received this highest overall quality rating in 2022.CMS offers the five-star rating as a tool to help health care consumers in selecting and comparing hospitals across the United States.
