Vernon, IL (March 6, 2023) – SSM Health Medical Group announces the addition of board certified bariatric and general surgeon, Fariba Dayhim, MD, FACS, FASMBS, DABOM, CNS, to the southern Illinois region as Medical Director of Weight Management Services at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Fariba Dayhim, MD, FACS, FASMBS, DABOM, CNS is an established and highly skilled surgeon with more than 15 years of experience in advanced minimally invasive, general, and bariatric surgery. She completed her general surgery residency at New York Medical College (Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center and Lincoln Hospital) in the Bronx, New York. She then went on to complete her advanced minimally invasive/bariatric surgery fellowship at The Methodist Hospital/Texas Medical Center in Houston, TX. Prior to her residency in New York, she also did a research fellowship at The University of Michigan Plastic Surgery department.
Dr. Dayhim holds certifications from the American Board of Surgery, American Board of Obesity Medicine, and Certification Board of Nutrition Specialists. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS) as well as an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
