“It’s wonderful to see the support for students pursuing health care careers,” shares Kay Zibby-Damron, Foundation Director at SSM Health. “The families of Dr. Jean Modert and Peg Edwards, through their generosity and desire to honor their family legacy, are contributing to the growth of quality health care in our community."

The Dr. Jean M. Modert Scholarship was created to encourage excellence and financial support to current employees of SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital, and to current students, seeking a degree in a health care field or additional certification/credentialing, especially those pursuing careers in nursing and other allied health care professionals. Scholarship amounts may vary with a minimum allocation of $1,000 per year.

The Peg Edwards Nursing Scholarship was established to honor Peg’s dedication to the nursing profession. She was a Registered Nurse for over 39 years and received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 2009. This scholarship’s purpose is to support a student whose intention is to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and who demonstrates the initiative and leadership qualities to make a positive contribution to the healthcare industry by working in the field of nursing.

Applications are due May 1, 2024. For more information, please visit givetossmhealth.org/GSscholarships or email Kay.Zibby-Damron@ssmhealth.com.
