Mt. Vernon, IL – SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital welcomes three new foundation board trustees dedicated to living the SSM Health Mission. The foundation at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital is committed to helping communities in Southern Illinois thrive. This philanthropic organization works to build meaningful donor relationships that support innovation, excellence, and community health.

The vision of SSM Health is to provide peace, hope, and health for every person, family, and community, especially those most in need. This health care ministry works to cultivate relationships that inspire service and promote justice within SSM Health and the communities they serve, with special concern for the poor and marginalized. As a not-for-profit health care provider, SSM Health relies on the support of individual donors and community benefactors to deliver exceptional health care services to all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Serving as an independent charitable organization the SSM Health Foundation supports the needs of SSM Health’s hospital, employees, and patients. This work is exemplified through the foundation’s current funding priorities centered around exceptional patient care, community health initiatives, and employee excellence.

The foundation’s newest board members, Lindsey Bowlin, Jeff Haarmann, and Alicia Woodward, personify the organization’s mission, vision, and values. “Each of these individuals eagerly agreed to serve on the foundation board. All three have dynamic skill sets with unique perspectives and expertise. These characteristics are complemented by a strong desire to help their community. I’m confident their engagement and leadership will strengthen our efforts to enhance health care and quality of life within our region,” said Michael Kroeschen, SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation Board Chair.

Lindsey Bowlin joins as an SSM Health Good Samaritan Foundation board trustee with excitement and gratitude. As a tenured member of Rotary International, Bowlin has lived her personal and professional life by the motto, “Service above self.” She currently works as a civil engineer at Heneghan Associates, P.C. Her experience in service is further demonstrated in her roles with the Spero Family Services Development Committee and the Civil Engineering Advisory Committee for the University of Evansville.

Jeff Haarmann joins as an SSM Health Good Samaritan Foundation board trustee with a strong passion for community service and family values. In 2012 Haarmann founded the energy management and solutions company, Affordable Gas + Electric (AGE). While Haarmann continues to maintain a role with AGE, he is currently in pursuit of a new venture through his current company, Recovered Energy. As part of Haarmann’s deep history of community enrichment, he along with other business leaders founded the Jefferson County CEO program where he currently serves as board president. He has been recognized by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce as “Citizen of the Year” and honored as Jefferson County’s “Small Business Person of the Year.”

Alicia Woodward joins as an SSM Health Good Samaritan Foundation board trustee with a dedication to serving others. Woodward currently serves on the executive board for Cedarhurst Center of the Arts Administrative Counselors. Alicia and her husband Mike returned to their hometown of Mt. Vernon to care for her mother during the COVID-19 pandemic. As her mother’s primary caregiver, Woodward spent an abundance of time at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital. “From this experience I knew I wanted to personally help support the Mission and Vision of SSM Health,” said Woodward.

SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital has been a vital part of caring for the people in our community for more than 100 years. The Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation’s mission is to inspire philanthropy in support of innovation, excellence, community health, and leadership for health care within our region.
