Mt. Vernon, IL – The Women’s Center at SSM Health Good Samaritan recently completed its annual Diaper Derby, a community-driven initiative designed to give back to local families while promoting safe sleep practices for infants.
During the event, staff and community members donated diapers that were then labeled with important safe sleep education tips. These diapers will be distributed to families throughout the region, ensuring that parents receive both essential supplies and life-saving information.
“Every diaper we distribute carries a message of safety,” said Cindel Polhemus, MSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM, C-ONQS, Advanced Clinical Nurse at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital. “Our goal is to make sure families not only have what they need but also understand how to create a safe sleep environment for their little ones.”
The Women’s Center collected the most donations during this year’s derby, demonstrating the power of collaboration and a commitment to child safety. This effort is about more than diapers—it’s about empowering families with knowledge that keeps babies safe. Our teams are proud to partner with this community to make a meaningful difference.
