Baraboo, WI – SSM Health was honored with the Wisconsin Safety Council Workplace Safety Award during the 83rd Annual Safety Conference held April 15-16, 2025 at the Kalahari Resorts & Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells.

The council recognized SSM Health for its exemplary safety record and outstanding dedication to workplace safety. The award underscores the health care organization's commitment to fostering a culture of safety and ensuring the wellbeing of everyone who enters its facilities.

The awards program is sponsored by Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development and M3 Insurance to recognize companies within Wisconsin that prioritize safety culture and have maintained exemplary safety records.

“This honor reflects not just an outstanding safety record but a deep, daily commitment to the wellbeing of every patient, visitor, and team member who walks through our doors. It is a testament to our dedicated staff, whose vigilance and compassion turn best practices into everyday practices,” said Dave Kitkowski, Senior Environmental Safety Emergency Preparedness Specialist at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital – Baraboo, who accepted the award on behalf of SSM Health Wisconsin.

A panel of independent safety, health, and insurance professionals selected the winners based on criteria that included company safety records, training programs, safety and health leadership, and other accomplishments.

"A safe environment enhances employee satisfaction and product quality, ensuring everyone returns home safely," said Aaron Huebner, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Safety Council.
