Her leadership and mentorship have inspired countless nurses, leaving a lasting impact on the field.

Known for her patient-centered approach, Doris consistently uses evidence-based practices to enhance the quality and safety of care. As a preceptor, she has shaped the careers of many nurses with her supportive and hands-on methods, fostering trust and collaboration among patients, families, and healthcare teams through her exceptional communication skills.

Doris embodies SSM Health’s Mission of revealing the healing presence of God, drawn from her personal experiences as a child receiving compassionate care. Inspired by the nurses during her hospital stay at St. Clare Hospital, Doris chose nursing as her lifelong calling. At the award ceremony, she shared her journey and its impact on her career, proudly noting that her daughter has followed in her footsteps as a registered nurse.

During Nurses Week, SSM Health St. Clare Hospital awarded Connor Haggarty, RN, with the DAISY Award and Liz Albers, Patient Financial Services Representative, with the BEE Award, celebrating their exceptional contributions to patient care.

The DAISY Award, an international program that honors nurses for their compassionate and skillful care, was presented to Connor Haggarty. His nomination, one of the three he received this quarter, highlighted his exceptional care and compassion not only for patients but also for his fellow nurses. Connor is praised for treating patients with dignity and advocating for students and new graduate nurses, ensuring a positive learning environment at St. Clare Hospital.

Liz Albers received the BEE Award, which recognizes the contributions of non-nursing care team members. Her nomination, submitted by a grateful colleague and patient, highlighted her exceptional dedication to solving patient financial issues, demonstrating SSM Health’s Mission of compassion and care.
