Hiestand to provide Family Medicine in Mt. Vernon, IL.

Mt. Vernon, IL (July 7, 2025)– SSM Health Medical Group in Southern Illinois continues to expand its Family Medicine services in Mt. Vernon by adding a new provider to its medical staff.

Sierra Hiestand, APRN-CNP, received an associate's degree in nursing from Kaskaskia College, a bachelor's degree in nursing from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO.

Sierra’s background includes experience in healthcare across numerous medical disciplines for patients of all ages. Throughout her career, she has diligently served Southern Illinois families as a nurse on patient floors, in the procedure center, and as a float nurse between different units that required extra assistance.

After spending 8 years at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital - Mt Vernon, Sierra’s knowledge and experience inspired her to transition to Family Medicine with SSM Health Medical Group. "To me, healthcare is about more than treating symptoms—it's about truly understanding and caring for the whole person,” said Sierra. “I want my patients to feel heard, respected, and empowered to take charge of their health. Together, we’ll build a relationship based on trust, open communication, and shared decisions.”

Sierra treats patients of all ages for a wide variety of conditions. She offers many services and treatments to keep patients healthy including:

  • Physicals and immunizations
  • Routine check-ups and screenings
  • Chronic illness and disease management

Sierra’s practice is part of SSM Health Medical Group, located at 4103 S. Water Tower Place in Mt. Vernon, IL. Her clinic hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 5:00 pm.
