Mt. Vernon, IL — SSM Health Medical Group is pleased to welcome Youssef Shammaa, MD, a board-certified physician specializing in Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, to its practice at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Dr. Shammaa brings a diverse and accomplished background in internal medicine and subspecialty care. He recently completed a Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Detroit Medical Center – Wayne State University, following a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at Staten Island University Hospital, where he also served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine.
A graduate of the Lebanese University Faculty of Medical Sciences, Dr. Shammaa has extensive experience in high-acuity ICU settings and is an active researcher. His work includes original studies and presentations on:
- COPD readmissions
- Pulmonary embolism
- Invasive fungal diseases
He has presented at major conferences such as the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians.
