St. Louis, MO – SSM Health has completed a multi-million-dollar transformation of its cancer center at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis, creating a comprehensive treatment destination for patients in western St. Charles and surrounding counties. The newly expanded facility enhances access to oncology services. It also increases treatment capacity for an improved patient experience closer to home for individuals navigating cancer care.
“We are fortunate to serve the people of St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties and the surrounding areas,” says Jeremy Fotheringham, RN, MHSA, JD, Academic, St. Louis and Southern Illinois regional president at SSM Health. “Through cancer services that started in the 1970s when St. Joseph-Lake St. Louis hospital was built, our cancer program has experienced remarkable growth. To meet the needs of these growing communities and keeping high-quality cancer care treatment as close to home as possible, we are expanding our services and accesses in a newly transformed treatment center for patients and their loved ones.”
“For patients facing cancer, having advanced treatment close to home matters,” says Kyle Grate, president of SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – St. Charles, St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis, SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Wentzville, and SSM Health Outpatient Center locations in our St. Charles market. “This expanded cancer center reflects our commitment to bringing high quality, compassionate care to the communities we serve. By investing in our people, facilities, and services, we are ensuring that patients and their families can access exceptional oncology care in an environment designed to promote healing, comfort, and hope. We are proud to strengthen cancer care for the growing communities of St. Charles, Lincoln, Warren, and the surrounding counties.”
The new center features additional clinical staff, new exam rooms, and infusion bays made within the expansion. The facility includes full floor-to-ceiling windows for patients receiving infusion treatment to overlook the lake. In addition, the pharmacy, laboratory, and waiting areas were expanded to provide a patient-centered environment to support patients at every stage of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Access to SSM Health's SLUCare Physician Group specialists is also available at the new center.
The expanded cancer center will provide substantial increases in oncology services to the St. Charles County region and beyond. The investment strengthens the hospital’s role as a regional hub for high-quality, specialized cancer care. The new facility ensures patients can access advanced treatment options without traveling far from home.
This milestone reflects SSM Health’s continued commitment to compassionate, community-based care. For more information, contact Liz Sharpe-Taylor at elizabeth.sharpe-taylor@ssmhealth.com.
