Pediatric Dermatology

Nationally and Internationally Recognized for Excellence in Treating Childhood Skin Conditions

Our team of SLUCare Physician Group pediatric dermatologists diagnose and treat kids with many skin, scalp, hair, and nail problems.

We focus only on pediatric patients, so we have plenty experience making skin exams and procedures comfortable for your child. We offer both inpatient and outpatient services. We work with patients and doctors worldwide to treat all types of skin diseases in children and teens.

Our expertise includes treating congenital and acquired skin problems, especially severe inflammatory skin diseases.

In addition to treating patients in St. Louis, our team connects with patients worldwide through telemedicine. This approach helps us deliver specialty dermatologic services where they are needed, reducing hospital visits and healthcare costs for families.

Our link with Saint Louis University lets our pediatric dermatology team use the latest research in your child's care. This kind of treatment is only available at an academic medical practice like SLUCare.

What questions should I ask my pediatrician?

If you are concerned about your child’s skin condition, your first step is to talk to your pediatrician. The following information condition can help your pediatrician determine the problem and how best to help:

  • When did the skin issue start?
  • What part of the body are involved?
  • Is it spreading or changing? If so, how rapidly (hours, days, weeks, months)?
  • Are there any associated problems, such as pain, itch, bleeding, scarring?
  • What treatments have you tried?

In many cases, your pediatrician will be able to treat your child’s condition. If topical treatments have failed to resolve the problem, your child is using a steroid cream every day, or if your child’s skin condition is interfering with sleep, then your pediatrician will refer you to our office.
