Colorectal & Pelvic Reconstruction Program
The multidisciplinary teams of pediatric gastroenterology (GI) with expertise in the motility diseases and surgery at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital joined to establish a Center of Excellence, the first in the region, to coordinate care of complex patients with colorectal and pelvic conditions which often present with impaired gut motility.
This program will complement those services with:
- Pediatric general surgery, GI, and motility
- Fecal incontinence (ARM, HD, IC, and spinal)
- Anorectal malformations
- Hirschsprung disease
- Imperforate anus
- Severe idiopathic constipation and colonic dysmotility
- Rectal prolapse
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (UC)
- Familial polyposis
- Management of postoperative problems
- Benign acquired anal pathologies (fissured, fistulas, and perianal abscess)
