What happens after cleft lip & palate or craniofacial surgery?
- After surgery for cleft lip & palate and craniofacial deformities, your child will be carefully observed overnight in the hospital.
- Typical hospital stay: one to two nights, or until they are comfortable and able to drink sufficient fluids.
What results can I expect from surgery?
Our surgical results are consistently excellent. You will quickly notice:
- Your child’s new ability to smile
- Improvement in speech
- Enhanced ability to function
Will my child need future procedures?
As your child continues to age and develop, additional surgeries may be required to enhance their function and appearance.
If this is the case, we will:
- Discuss the timeline of procedures with you
- Help coordinate follow-up care with your child’s pediatrician
