Emergency Room at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Centralia
SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital located in Centralia, IL, offers emergency services for you and your family. Located at the west entrance off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive this location has specially-trained physicians and nurses who can respond to any level of health care needs, ranging from a minor cut to a life-threatening circumstance.
For children, our ER physicians consult with specialists from SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital to lessens the likelihood of families having to travel to St. Louis or other regions for care.

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital completed a $5.5 million renovation and expansion project in September 2021. This project included:
- Addition of 2,200 square feet making the ED a total of 7,770 square feet.
- Four rapid medical examination units for treatment of emergent, but more minor illnesses and injuries for expedited care.
- Dedicated room designed for treatment and containment of infectious disease.
- Dedicated room designed specifically for pediatric patients.
- Dedicated room designed specifically for sexually assaulted patients.
- Two dedicated critical care rooms for severely ill patients.
- Four dedicated specialized “safe” rooms designed specifically for patients who present to the ER with behavioral health conditions.
- Addition of a decontamination room inside the ER for prompt and safe removal of harmful chemicals.
- Addition of a separate ambulance entrance from patients and visitors to enhance privacy and patient flow.
- Expanded and modernized visitor lobby and conference room.
- Updated staff lounge, ADA restrooms, larger doorways, expanded security office, landscaping and restoration of statues.
- Dew artwork is used as reminder that every day is a new day and in the bible dew is used to refer to blessings, favor, prosperity, resurrection, and long life.
