Named in honor of Margaret Vessels Love, the Love family generously donated $500,000 in her memory to go toward St. Anthony’s Surgery Center. A life-long supporter of SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital, Mrs. Love not only served the Volunteer League for more than 40 years, but even served as a Foundation Board Member.
A fitting tribute to a remarkable woman, the Love family further honored her tireless work and devotion to St. Anthony by creating “Margaret’s Garden,” a rooftop oasis that completes the warmth of the Margaret Vessels Love Surgery Center.
Through the heartfelt generosity of the Love family, St. Anthony is now better able to serve our community with a state-of-the-art surgery center that covers more than 70,000 square feet!
Operating Rooms
Our $30 million Margaret Vessels Love Surgery Center has 15 state-of-the-art operating rooms, ranging in size from 675 to 900 square feet—some of the largest, most advanced operating rooms in Oklahoma City. Brand new cameras and at least one 48-inch flat screen monitor in each room help our surgeons better visualize procedures in progress. Large spaces and boom-mounted equipment reduce clutter so our physicians and staff have plenty of room to work. We designed comfortable waiting areas with soothing color palettes so you and your loved ones will have a peaceful environment when you have to wait.
Some rooms in our surgery center are dedicated solely to procedures like open heart surgery, urology procedures, neurosurgery cases, and endovascular surgeries:
Open Heart Surgery
Two of our rooms are designed specifically for performing open heart surgeries. Sophisticated lights, cameras, and computer equipment give our surgeons everything they need to perform the most advanced procedures.
Urology Procedures
Urology procedures require real-time X-rays during surgery. For this task, St. Anthony acquired two GE Cysto-tables—just one example of how our two urology surgery suites incorporate the newest, most advanced technology.
Neurosurgery Cases
Complicated neurosurgery requires lots of equipment, so our Neurosurgery suite is larger, with more technology and imaging capabilities than a typical operating room. At 864 square feet, it’s one of our largest operating rooms.
Endovascular Suite
Our “Operating Room of the Future,” the endovascular suite combines the technology of a minimally invasive catheterization laboratory (cath lab) with an open heart operating room. Completed in 2007, our surgeons regularly perform the most advanced vascular procedures here.
