Visitor Guidelines

Visitors can be good medicine for patients. We encourage family members and friends to visit. In order to maintain a safe, comfortable healing environment, the following visiting guidelines have been established:

  • Visitors must dress appropriately (shirts and shoes are required).
  • Children should always be accompanied by an adult.
  • Be quiet in respect for those patients who are resting.

Visitor Masking Guidelines

  • SSM Health has discontinued its universal masking policy.
  • Masks are no longer required, with the exception of those who have known or suspected COVID-19 or other upper respiratory symptoms.
  • Patients will continue to be screened for upper respiratory symptoms, and masks will be provided for those who need one.
  • We support patients and visitors who choose to wear a mask.

Additional hospital visitor guidelines:

  • Patients who are COVID-19 positive, presumptive positive, or under investigation for a COVID infection may have visitors. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. Please check in with nursing staff before entering the room.
  • COVID-19 screening questions will be asked at patient registration or upon emergency room arrival.

We believe spiritual care is an integral part of the healing process. We are committed to providing appropriate support to patients and families of a religious tradition or with spiritual needs not related to a particular faith tradition. Our chaplains are professionally trained to provide emotional support and spiritual assistance. Visits from your own faith leader are also encouraged.

Chapel Hours

The Chapel at SSM Health St. Clare - Baraboo is open daily for prayer and meditation. The Chapel is located on the first floor adjacent to the main elevators.

  • Prayer & Meditation: Open 24 hours
  • Mass: Noon - 12:30 pm, second and fourth Wednesday of the month

Chaplain Services at SSM Health St. Clare - Baraboo

On-call chaplains are available for emergent situations during non-staffed hours. Reading and devotional materials from various religious traditions are available for patient and family use through the Pastoral Care office. Care Notes which provide information about coping with illness, grief and many other topics are also available in the Pastoral Care office and can be requested through a chaplain.

Services are available by request between 7:30 am and 4 pm by calling 608-356-1511. Dial "0" for assistance after hours.

Monday through Friday: 9 am - 4 pm

GoldenCare is a free program, available to Wisconsin residents, 60 years of age and older. You do not have to be a patient at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital – Baraboo or SSM Health Dean Medical Group to take advantage of the many benefits and discounts of GoldenCare senior membership.

Apply online or stop in the GoldenCare office at SSM Health St. Clare to sign up. You’ll receive your GoldenCare membership card in the mail. You can start taking advantage of your GoldenCare senior program benefits right away.

The Hilltop Café is open to staff, patients, visitors and the public. Come and enjoy a great meal! The Café is open daily from 6:30 am - 6:30 pm and always has fresh-made deli sandwiches and grab-and-go items during open hours.

SSM Health St. Clare - Baraboo offers many accessibility services for patients who need assistance. These on-campus services are easy to access and free of charge.

Valet attendants, volunteer greeters or patient care staff can help you arrange accessibility services. Family and friends also are welcome to assist you with special needs during your visit.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs are available, free of charge, for use on the SSM Health St. Clare - Baraboo campus. Wheelchairs are located throughout the hospital. If you prefer a larger-sized wheelchair, please ask an attendant.

Services for the Hearing Impaired

Volume-controlled telephones and telecommunications devices for the deaf (TDDs) are available. Our staff, located at the information desks, can direct you to these devices.

Restrooms

All buildings have wheelchair-accessible restrooms, marked with signs, noting accessibility. If you have difficulty locating a wheelchair-accessible restroom, ask one of our staff members for assistance.

Valet Parking

SSM Health St. Clare Hospital - Baraboo is pleased provide complimentary valet parking. Patients and visitors may use the service located at the main hospital entrance on Tuttle Street. Valet is available from 7 am to 6 pm.

Taxi service is available in the greater Baraboo and Wisconsin Dells areas. For assistance, please ask an SSM Health St. Clare - Baraboo information desk staff member for assistance. Special transportation assistance for seniors is available through Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) in Sauk County as well.
