ST. LOUIS, MO – SSM Health has announced the selection of Jeremy Fotheringham as President of the health system’s Academic Ministries in St. Louis, including SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital and SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.
In this role, Fotheringham will provide leadership for the three SSM Health campuses and will serve as a primary point of contact and collaboration with the system’s partners at Saint Louis University and SLUCare. He will begin his work in St. Louis on January 4, 2021.
Fotheringham comes to SSM Health from University of Missouri Health Care, where he served as Chief Operating Officer for a network of five hospitals and more than 60 medical group locations. In his time at MU Health Care, Fotheringham has overseen dramatic improvement in operational performance and clinical excellence, while enhancing employee engagement.
“Jeremy is a transformative leader who will contribute significantly to our shared Mission of delivering exceptional health care that reveals God’s healing presence,” said Steve Smoot, Chief Operating Officer for SSM Health. “He is highly aligned with our commitment to Mission and the delivery of compassionate care to the poor and underserved, and his experience in academic environments will be enormously beneficial to our shared work with our university partners.”
Fotheringham began his career as a registered nurse in cardiovascular, critical care/trauma and medical-surgical nursing. He also earned Masters of Health Systems Administration and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Kansas.
He pioneered the creation of the Alliance for Precision Health with Siemens Healthineers, which was the largest in its history, to fuel development of precision and digital health technologies. Prior to MU Health Care, Jeremy held leadership roles at Intermountain Healthcare, Marrek and the University of Utah Hospitals & Clinics
