SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital Radiation Oncology Program Earns Prestigious Accreditation from American College of Radiology

November 03, 2026 09:00 AM -

St. Louis, Missouri - SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital's Department of Radiation Oncology is the first hospital in St. Louis to achieve American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation, a distinction that reflects the program's commitment to the highest quality of cancer care.

As the nation's oldest and most widely recognized radiation oncology accrediting body, the ACR evaluates facilities through a rigorous peer-review process conducted by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists. The accreditation is granted only to sites that meet ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards, demonstrating excellence in patient care and treatment delivery.

"This recognition reflects the unwavering commitment of our physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, nurses and support teams to delivering the highest standards of quality, safety and patient-centered care," said Dr. Katie Armstrong, DHA, MHA, MHI, R.T. (R)(T)(ARRT), Director of Imaging and Testing Services at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. "The incredible team behind this historic milestone continues to raise the bar for cancer care in our community."

“ACR accreditation recognizes the high standards of care our team delivers every day and reinforces our commitment to improving patient outcomes. Our program provides comprehensive radiation oncology services for adults and children, including advanced, complex treatments and the highest volume of radiosurgery cases in the St. Louis SSM regional network,” said Dr. Jeevin Shahi, MD, Division Director of Radiation Oncology at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. “This recognition offers patients, families, and referring providers added confidence that they can rely on our team for expert, compassionate, and trusted cancer care."
