Under the terms of the agreement, SSM Health will be responsible for hospital operations, medical group operations, and ambulance service. As part of the transaction, SSM Health is working closely with the City of Midwest City to enter into a new long-term lease for the hospital, whereby SSM Health will collaborate with the city on future operations and services for eastern Oklahoma County residents.
The hospital will be renamed to SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital – Midwest upon close of the transaction.
“SSM Health Oklahoma has a long-standing tradition of serving the residents of Midwest City through our SSM Health Medical Group and SSM Health St. Anthony Healthplex,” stated Joe Hodges, Regional President, SSM Health Oklahoma, “By expanding our presence in this fast-growing area in eastern Oklahoma County, we will be in an even better position to improve the health of Oklahomans.”

“The City of Midwest City has been in formal discussions with SSM Health Oklahoma for a long-term lease agreement,” stated City Manager Tim Lyon. “We are excited to begin the next era of health care by working closely with SSM Health to set a vision of the future of health care services in our community.”
The closing of the transaction related to the assets is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2021. During that time SSM Health will be working through its integration and implementation plans, including the transition of employees and the medical staff to SSM Health employment.
