Ukrainian-born pharmacy tech seeks 'work-war balance' as war continues in home country

May 31, 2022 02:06 PM -

While most of us search for work-life balance, Ukraine-born Yana Selivanova, a pharmacy tech at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital - Madison, searches for “work-war balance” as the war continues in her home country.

Yana puts on a brave face every day when she works as an SSM Health pharmacy tech, but the war plagues at her heart every minute, even with her parents’ recent arrival to Madison after fleeing Ukraine. This is the first time she has seen them since she left Ukraine nine years ago.

Yana is active in the community proudly sharing her Ukrainian culture and raising funds to help as many people as she can.

To help support staff, patients and community members affected by the war in Ukraine, SSM Health has implemented different supportive initiatives including donations to area supply drives, regular prayers for peace, as well as a special push to post coloring sheets featuring sunflowers – the national flower of Ukraine found here: Bearnard coloring sheet

SSM Health’s Madison based ministries are asking community members to print, color and mail completed coloring sheets to the following address as a public show of support for those impacted by war and violence around the globe:
