SSM Health Wisconsin announces new hospital leadership structure

MADISON, WI – This week, SSM Health is announcing a newly aligned leadership structure in Wisconsin that further integrates operations across the seven regional hospitals in the state.

“We are blessed with a wealth of leadership talent within SSM Health Wisconsin,” said Regional President Sue Anderson. “This regional alignment of hospital leadership is another step in our ongoing commitment to improve operational efficiencies to ensure that we maximize the resources we can put to work at the bedsides of our patients where they are needed most.”

Kyle Nondorf

Kyle Nondorf recently was promoted to a new leadership role of Regional Vice President for Acute Care Operations, Northern Markets. Past president of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Madison, Nondorf also served as interim president of SSM Health St. Clare Hospital – Baraboo. In this new role, he will oversee acute care operations for SSM Health Wisconsin’s northern hospitals in Baraboo, Fond du Lac, Ripon and Waupun.

Dawit Tesfasilassie

Dawit Tesfasilassie was named the Regional Vice President for Acute Care Operations, Southern Markets in June. He joined SSM Health from Havasu Regional Medical Center in Arizona where he served as Chief Operations Officer and Interim Chief Executive Officer. He will oversee acute care operations for SSM Health Wisconsin’s southern hospitals in Janesville, Madison and Monroe.


Eric Thornton

This regional alignment means promotions and expanded leadership responsibilities for three of SSM Health Wisconsin’s seasoned hospital presidents: Eric Thornton, Jane Curran-Meuli and DeAnn Thurmer.

SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Janesville President Eric Thornton has recently been named the new president of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Madison. A proven leader, Thornton has led the Janesville hospital since 2019 after being promoted from Vice President of Hospital Operations. He joined SSM Health in 2010 as a Human Resources leader to help plan the opening of the hospital in Janesville.


Jane Curran-Meuli

SSM Health Monroe Hospital President Jane Curran-Meuli will expand her scope to include oversight of both St. Mary’s Hospital – Janesville and the Monroe facilities. With more than 35 years of clinical and administrative experience, Curran-Meuli’s expertise will help to grow and strengthen SSM Health’s southernmost markets.


Deann Thurmer

President of SSM Health’s Ripon Community and Waupun Memorial Hospitals DeAnn Thurmer will now expand her oversight to also include SSM Health St. Clare Hospital – Baraboo. A proven executive since 1995, Thurmer has been instrumental in leading teams to clinical excellence and now will bring her wealth of knowledge and experience to include the team in Baraboo.

Katherine Vergos will continue as Hospital President at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac where she has served the Greater Fond du Lac community’s needs since assuming the hospital’s helm seven years ago.
