Baraboo, WI – Surrounded by colleagues and family, Dr. Maureen Murphy, family medicine physician at SSM Health Dean Medical Group in Wisconsin Dells and Vice President Medical Affairs at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital – Baraboo was presented with the prestigious Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative (RWHC) annual 2024 Rural Health Ambassador Award on Monday May 13th as National Health Care Week commenced.
The award recognizes health care employees at RWHC hospitals who have gone above the call of duty in promoting their respective organizations, while making significant contributions to rural health. Each recipient demonstrates a history of fostering positive communication and relations within the hospital's respective service area by serving on community boards and service organizations; taking advantage of volunteer or public speaking opportunities; and supporting community health activities beyond the scope of the hospital.
Dr. Murphy’s nomination highlighted her 39 years of service to the Baraboo and Wisconsin Dells area as a rural medicine family practice doctor providing care for generations of patients, her support and advocacy for the Rural Residency Training Track in Baraboo that encourages future providers to stay and work in our communities, and her support for other non-profits that raise funds for children, homelessness, education, food pantries, and more in our Baraboo area communities.
SSM Health St. Clare Hospital – Baraboo President DeAnn Thurmer stated in Dr. Murphy’s nomination, “Dr. Murphy is a beautiful example of what it means to care for the community you live in and to live your calling. Dr. Murphy’s kindness, compassion, knowledge, and respect shine through in each interaction. She is deeply dedicated to improving the lives of people that come into her care and the community at large. We are blessed to have Dr. Murphy in our rural community and as a provider and leader at SSM Health Dean Medical Group in Wisconsin Dells and St. Clare Hospital – Baraboo.”
Congratulations to Dr. Murphy on receiving this award!
