SSM Health announces major plans to develop a new pediatric multidisciplinary ambulatory facility, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Outpatient Pavilion, that will strengthen access to world-class pediatric care for families and patients. The addition of the SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Outpatient Pavilion advances pediatric care by uniting inpatient and outpatient services, specialists, and support on one coordinated campus making it easier for families to access care, navigate fewer handoffs, and experience truly integrated services.
Together, the new SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Outpatient Pavilion and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital create a more connected and compassionate future, designed around the needs of patients and families to simplify navigation, strengthen care coordination, and deliver a truly integrated, human-centered experience.
“The new SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Outpatient Pavilion plays a critical role in transforming pediatric care in the region. It expands access to specialized services while ensuring those services are closely connected to hospital-based care when needed,” says Hossain Marandi, MD, MBA, FACHE, president of SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and system vice president, Pediatric Services. “By bringing a pediatric specialty outpatient pavilion and inpatient hospital care together on one campus, we are removing barriers that families face every day. It means specialists, diagnostics, and treatment are connected both physically and clinically around the needs of each child. This integration simplifies what can otherwise feel like a complex and overwhelming journey.”
Designed to simplify the journey from symptoms to diagnosis, the new outpatient pavilion will bring more services under one coordinated site and support leading-edge treatment in a single, accessible campus.
“We are creating a comprehensive, connected pediatric destination that brings services together in a seamless, coordinated way,” says Dr. Marandi. “The addition of a new inpatient hospital and pediatric outpatient pavilion will make it easier for families to access the right care, navigate fewer handoffs, and receive integrated services in one location.”
The location, near public transportation and major highways, will improve accessibility for families, while thoughtful design will create safe, walkable spaces with convenient parking. Positioned adjacent to SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital and Saint Louis University Medical School, the new Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Outpatient Pavilion strengthens health care collaboration across disciplines for a more efficient, connected experience for patients.
