Centralia, Illinois – Ginny Price, RN, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Centralia, was recently honored with the DAISY Award for exceptional nursing.
A family member of a patient with a life-limiting condition on Hospice Care shared their loved one’s experience with Ginny, recalling her passion for nursing and eagerness to go the extra mile for their relative:
“Nurse Ginny went above and beyond her duties as an RN. She put her heart, thoughts, and time into my father and his care,” said the family member. “She made sure all of his needs were met. She explained things, held his hand, and listened to him. If anyone deserves this DAISY Award, it would be Ginny Price.”
Ginny’s consistent, compassionate care prioritized the patient’s comfort and quality of life. She utilized expert physical care, as well as emotional and spiritual support to offer relief to the patient and their family during a difficult time.
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33; the care Patrick received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
