Rediscover Life Without Pain

by SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy family activities, travel, spend time in the garden, and so much more. Unfortunately, those who suffer from joint pain or mobility issues may find themselves missing such opportunities.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

"Joint pain can be truly debilitating and impact quality of life," said Ryan Pizinger, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon with SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic. "Fortunately, there are options available to provide symptom relief and improve range of motion."

At SSM Health, a team of dedicated Orthopedic experts offer care options to address joint pain and injuries.

"Our team will work with you to discuss options and formulate your individualized goals," explained Dr. Pizinger.

Non-surgical options can include:

Therapy Services

SSM Health physical therapists help patients to regain strength around the joint, decrease pain, and teach movements and/or exercises to prevent future issues.

Occupational therapists can also help to address chronic conditions and assist with adaptive skills for independent living.

Injections/in-office treatment

Cortisone or hyaluronic acid injections help to provide relief for chronic inflammation and pain.

Weight management is very important for joint health. Our team can provide educational resources to help with developing - or maintaining- a lifestyle that includes healthy eating and exercise.

Joint support

Supplies like braces or splits can help to stabilize a joint or injured area, and also reduce the pain of arthritis. The team can help to determine what options are available for your symptoms.

Surgical options can include:

Arthroscopy

Small incisions and specialized tools are used to remove or repair the cartilage or joints. Arthroscopy may be recommended if you have pain that has not improved through non-surgical techniques.

Joint replacement

Joint replacement involves removing the damaged joint and replacing it with an artificial one.

Partial replacement

For some individuals who experience knee pain, a partial replacement may be an option instead of having total knee replacement.
