Facial Cosmetic Surgery

SLUCare Physican Group plastic surgeons offer a full range of cosmetic procedures to enhance facial features affected by aging, injury or malformation.

Rhinoplasty (nose job)

A rhinoplasty is often referred to as a “nose job” or a “reshaping of the nose”. It can enhance the proportions of your nose for cosmetic reasons or to correct any impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose. This surgical procedure can improve and correct nose width at the bridge, size and position of the nostrils, birth defect, injury, nose profile with visible bumps along the bridge, and nasal tip reconstruction. Full healing takes between 6-12 months with the goal to create symmetric facial balance.

Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)

This surgical procedure, often referred to as an eyelid lift, is performed to improve the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. A blepharoplasty can treat functional problems with your eyelids (loose skin, folds, and/or vision impairment). It can also improve eyelid appearance for cosmetic reasons (bags under the eyes, puffiness/fatty deposits, and/or drooping). Initial healing takes between 10-14 days with complete recovery after a few months.

Brow Lift

A brow lift is also known as a forehead lift. This surgical procedure can improve frown lines (vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows) and reduce wrinkle lines horizontally across the forehead, bridge of the nose, and between the eyes. It can also raise sagging brows that are a result of hooding in the upper eyelids. Initial healing takes between 10-14 days with complete recovery after a few months.

Rhytidectomy (facelift)

Most known as a facelift, this surgical procedure can improve visible signs of aging surrounding the neck and face. These include loose or sagging skin, excess fat around the neck, fold lines between the nose and mouth, general skin drooping, jowls (relaxed skin at the sides of the chin) and fat that has fallen or disappeared. Initial healing takes between 10-14 days with complete recovery in 2-3 months.

Botulinum Toxin & Cosmetic Fillers

The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin is a popular injectable that can temporarily reduce fine lines, wrinkles, muscle spasms, stiffness, excessive seating, overactive bladder, and chronic migraine headaches. Many patients are familiar with these injections by their brand names: Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau®. The injections block the nerve signals to the muscle, so they can’t contract. Patients also choose injectables as a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment for crow’s feet, forehead furrows, frown lines, lip lines, and more. There is no recovery time for cosmetic fillers.

Fat Grafting

This procedure is also called a fat transfer or fat injections. It is a surgical process that takes fat from one area of the body to another. This technique involves extracting fat by liposuction, processing the fat to purify, and then reinjecting into the area in need. Fat grafting is used cosmetically to enhance the appearance of the face, breast, hands, feet, hips, and buttocks. It’s also used in wound and scar healing.

Otoplasty (ear pinning)

This procedure can improve the appearance, shape, and position of the ear. There are several reasons for an otoplasty including a birth defect, injury, or cosmetic. Otoplasty creates a proportion, balance, and natural shape to the ears and face using cartilage. The most common procedure is to move very large or prominent ears closer to the head.

Chin Augmentation

Medically called mentoplasty, this surgical procedure can reshape the chin using an enhancement (implant) or a reduction to the bone. A chin augmentation improves the balance of the chin, cheek, nose, and forehead for proper symmetry. Initial healing takes 7-10 days and complete recovery in 3-4 months.

Malar (cheekbone) Augmentation

Patients choose cheekbone augmentation to lift their cheeks or to add volume. A surgical malar augmentation enhances the cheeks through fat grafting/transferring. During a fat graft the patient’s own fat is used. Cheek implants are also used as a surgical option for this procedure.
