Kidney, Urinary, and Genital Conditions

If your baby has been diagnosed with a kidney, urinary, or genital condition, we understand the worry and anxiety you may have. Our dedicated team of SLUCare Physician Group specialists at the SSM Health Cardinal Glennon St. Louis Fetal Care Institute are uniquely equipped to help you and your baby. Working with a multidisciplinary team of fetal surgeons, pediatric doctors and nurses, we comprehensively monitor and treat these conditions, using the safest techniques to treat your child before or after delivery.

The following are some of the kidney, urinary, and genital conditions we treat:

  • Ambiguous Genitalia - A disorder of sexual development (DSD) where the external genitals are not clearly male or female.
  • Atypical Genitalia - A condition in which a baby’s external genitals are not typically formed.
  • Lower Urinary Tract Obstruction (LUTO) - A blockage in the lower urinary tract, preventing urination, that can lead to kidney and lung damage.
  • Urinary Tract Dilation (UTD) - A swelling of one kidney or both due to a backup of urine.
