Twin Abnormalities

At the SSM Health Cardinal Glennon St. Louis Fetal Care Institute our highly specialized maternal fetal specialists monitor and treat the most common twin abnormalities, including Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) and Selective Intrauterine Growth Restriction (sIUGR). The following are some of the conditions we treat:

• Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome - A prenatal condition in which twins share unequal amounts of the placenta’s blood supply resulting in the two fetuses growing at different rates.
• Selective Intrauterine Growth Restriction - A condition that occurs when monochorionic twins share unequal portions of the placenta.
