Quality of Care & Health Care Outcomes
At SSM Health, we care about you. And when you come into one of our hospitals, we want you to receive exceptional care. Here, you’ll find information about how we’re meeting these standards of excellence, as described by you, our patients.
Our Quality of Care
Patients are our partners in improving the quality of care we provide at SSM Health’s hospitals and other facilities. How? By completing inpatient surveys after their visits to our facilities. The results of those surveys are used by our caregivers to determine what we need to improve upon and how we compare with other hospitals, nationwide and in our respective states.
In March 2008, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) began posting the results of these patient satisfaction surveys, known as Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems. These surveys ask patients about their experiences with care during recent overnight stays in our hospitals and include eight aspects of care deemed most important by CMS for patient safety and quality purposes. Additionally, other measures of quality of care are broadly shared and compared including timely and effective care, complications and more.
There are eight aspects of care considered most important by patients. They also comment on the “overall rating of care” and their “willingness to recommend the hospital to others.” Survey questions have response options ranging from “never” to “always”.
To access our hospital’s ratings visit the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid website.
Below, you’ll find additional links to free quality reports prepared by other organizations. These reports compare the quality of care found at SSM Health facilities with others. Information about the quality of your care can help you make decisions about where to trust your health.
