SSM Health Communities’* Villa Loretto, a skilled nursing facility in Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin, was recently named to U.S. News and World Report Best Nursing Homes 2022-2023. The facility achieved both an overall rating of five out of five and a long-term care rating of High Performing.

U.S. News evaluated 15,178 nursing homes on care, safety, infection rates, staffing, and health inspections. More than 1,650 of those evaluated were recognized as "high performing" in short-term rehabilitation, and 1,103 were recognized as "high performing" in long-term care.

Villa Loretto has been providing care to the community since it opened in 1965 thanks to the Congregation of Sister Servants of Christ the King. The facility can accommodate up to 50 residents and is located in the beautiful countryside of Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin.

“We are extremely proud of the staff at Villa Loretto for this accomplishment,” says Denise “Dg” Gloede, President of Post-Acute for SSM Health. “This award demonstrates their dedication to our Mission and their work to provide Villa Loretto’s residents with the highest-quality care.”

U.S. News Long-Term Care Ratings rate eligible nursing homes in the care of people in need of daily assistance with medical and non-medical needs. The data used to evaluate these homes come from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and include metrics of nurse staffing, best practices in preventive care and resident safety, flu vaccination rates, and minimizing the need for and use of hypnotic medications.

*In addition to Villa Loretto, SSM Health operates five other SSM Health Communities in Wisconsin, including Christian Home & Rehabilitation Center, SSM Health St. Clare Meadows Care Center, SSM Health St. Mary’s Care Center, St. Francis Home, and Villa Rosa.
