It hasn’t taken long for the SSM Health Beaver Dam physician offices at 130 Corporate Drive in Beaver Dam to expand its service since first opening in February 2021.
Come this summer, patients, especially those with Dean Health Plan, will benefit from a new therapy space on the clinic’s second floor. The 3,000-square-foot area will welcome two physical therapists, one occupational therapist, and a receptionist/aide. Construction of existing shelled space begin on February 21 with an anticipated early May 2022 opening.
CD Smith is serving as the general contractor with EAU as architect. The project is anticipated to cost around $840,000, including construction and equipment expenses.
The area will feature four treatment rooms, and a 1,252-square-foot combined physical therapy gym and treatment room separated by a half wall. The open concept features floor to ceiling windows for natural lighting, a drop ceiling to help with noise reduction, and matches the calming environment throughout the existing clinic building.
Patients will benefit from all new, state-of-the-art equipment, including treadmill, stepper, elliptical, parallel bars, and a multi-faceted strengthening system.
Planning has been underway since before the clinic’s initial opening with the hopes of reducing the need for Beaver Dam patients to travel for important therapy services.

“Having these services so readily available really complements the full spectrum of care that our SSM Health providers in Beaver Dam can offer,” says Zach Pitz, director of SSM Health Rehab Services for the Greater Fond du Lac Region. “We know that individuals utilize these services for many different reasons, and it will be valuable to do it so close to home, with such immediate access to their provider.”
Therapists will help care for a wide spectrum of health conditions, including pain, balance (vestibular) or back-to-work issues, among many others. “Our goal is to get our patients moving again and back to full function,” Pitz says, “and that can come after surgery, stroke or other neurological concern, cancer care, or other health issues.”
Local therapists will also be able to tap into the expertise of 80 other therapy professionals within the SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region to help expand total offerings.
“The care we offer is highly personalized,” according to Pitz. “In our first session, we work on setting personal goals for each patient. Through these conversations, we are able to develop very specific and realistic goals, along with identifying key landmarks and milestones. For example, not all shoulder surgeries are the same - everyone comes out of shoulder surgeries with different goals. We’re there to work with our patients to maximize their ultimate goals.”
