Oklahoma City -- SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital has earned a spot on the first-ever Forbes Top Hospitals 2026 list, a prestigious recognition that highlights excellence in patient care and outcomes across the nation.
Forbes created this inaugural list to help consumers navigate today’s complex healthcare landscape. Using a rigorous, data-driven methodology, the publication partnered with Inovalon — a healthcare analytics firm — and collaborated with experts in medicine, health policy and patient advocacy.
Collectively, the team developed the Forbes Top Hospitals methodology, based on validated healthcare quality measures extracted from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Provider Data Catalog. The CMS PDC focuses on critical aspects of care such as patient outcomes, best practices, value and patient experience.
Forbes weighted patient outcomes — including readmissions, infection rates and mortality — most heavily. They also factored in social determinants of health — income, education and access to transportation — to produce a more level comparison of hospital quality despite differences between any given hospital’s location and patients.
“Being named to Forbes’ Top Hospitals list is an incredible honor and a testament to the dedication of our entire team at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital,” said Tammy Powell, president of SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital and Bone & Joint Hospital. “The methodology used to create the list further emphasizes the values that drive our hospital system. Every day, we strive to provide exceptional, compassionate care that improves the health and well-being of our community.”
To establish the list, the Forbes team started with the 5,400 general acute care hospitals listed in the CMS PDC and narrowed them down to approximately 2,500 that met the inclusion criteria. Those hospitals were then analyzed, with 762 hospitals — only 14 percent — making it on the first-ever Forbes Top Hospitals list.
“This achievement serves to reinforce our commitment to delivering the highest quality outcomes for our patients and their families,” Powell said.
