Do you offer financial assistance for transplant patients?

If you are going to be receiving a transplant, you will meet with a financial counselor. You’ll discuss the costs associated with your transplant, and the cost of the medications you will need to take after the procedure.

They will work with you to better understand your insurance coverage as well. It is required that you arrange for payment of the costs that may not be covered by your insurance. Unfortunately, you may not be able to undergo a transplant if you have not made acceptable financial arrangements for payment, when a suitable organ becomes available. There are some resources that can help assist you with these expenses though:

Housing resources available in St. Louis:

Some nearby hotels also offer discounted rates. Call our patient and visitor relations department at 314-257-1745 from 8 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday and they will be able to assist you. After hours, you can also access information from the admitting or emergency departments or by viewing the visitor information page for SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital.

Mid-America Transplant Services also operates a Family House at the Highlands at Forest Park.
