Curriculum & Elective Residency Rotations
The Baraboo Rural Training Track Residency Program offers full spectrum family medicine training in a close-knit rural community located about 45 minutes north of Madison. Our longitudinal curriculum places an emphasis on lifelong learning and offers unique challenges and rewards to physicians committed to serving rural communities. The Baraboo Residency Program provides top-quality training at SSM Health Dean Medical Group Baraboo, SSM Health St. Clare Hospital Baraboo, and with University of Wisconsin Madison Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.
Residents can expect to spend the majority of their first year in Madison completing their rotations alongside residents in the Madison Residency Program, while building their patient panel with continuity clinic sessions in Baraboo each week. This integrated experience provides access to the extensive clinical resources and academic opportunities in the Madison area while cultivating roots with the Baraboo Faculty, Patients, and Community.
During your second and third years you’ll be immersed in the Baraboo Community providing rural full-spectrum family medicine to continuity clinic patients, taking call, performing procedures, hospitalist care, providing maternity care and newborn care, rounding on nursing home patients, and working in the ER at St. Clare Hospital. Advanced procedural care electives can be pursued depending upon Resident interest and availability.
The program provides meal stipends, and mileage reimbursement to residents.
