Application Process

Thank you for your interest in SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital’s Internal Medicine Residency Program. Applications are only accepted through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) only. The program also participates in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).

Positions Offered:

10 PGY-1, all 3-year categorical track (preliminary track is not available)

Requirements:

  • USMLE Step 1 Scores: 230 and above.
  • USMLE Step 2 Scores: 230 and above
  • USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills: Pass on first attempt
  • Medical School Graduation: Within the last 5-7 years is preferred.
  • ECFMG Certification: Must be received by Match Day to facilitate temporary medical license application to the Missouri Board of Healing Arts.
  • Notification of Change:
    • Visa Sponsorship: SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - St. Louis' Internal Medicine Residency program will exclusively sponsor J-1 visa’s through the ECFMG. The program will no longer sponsor H-1B sponsorship for new residents.
    • J-1 visa holders will be required to successfully pass the USMLE Step 3 exam, by April 30th of their PGY 2 year, for promotion to PGY 3.
    • Visa sponsorship is at the discretion of the institution and is subject to change at any time based on institutional policy and federal regulations.
