The Visiting Nurse Association of Greater St. Louis Legacy
The Visiting Nurse Association of Greater St. Louis, now part of SSM Health, is at the center of the continuum care for life – whether its on-site wellness and vaccines, private duty services, home-based palliative care, or end-of-life comfort care.
For more than 100 years, VNA has earned the trust of thousands of families throughout the St. Louis community as the resource for life and the leader in skilled nursing; beginning with maternity and newborn care through mass childhood immunization programs to being recognized as the premier resource for hospice care or establishing a volunteer visit program to combat senior loneliness.
Now, as a part of SSM Health, VNA programs will continue as key additions to SSM Health's services:
Vaccination Services
Whether at a place of employment, community center, house of worship or school, SSM Health is a leading resource for vaccinations.
For businesses, we bring the vaccines on-site, to your employees, reducing your employees’ time away from work. We offer the following vaccinations:
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Influenza (seasonal)
- Pneumonia
- Shingrix (Shingles vaccination)
- Tetanus with Whooping Cough (Tdap)
- Tuberculosis (TB) Testing
To meet the requirements for school districts, we have partnered with the Vaccine for Children Program that provides no-cost vaccinations to qualifying children. The vaccinations must be scheduled by a school and are administered at the school by a Visiting Nurse Association nurse. The vaccinations available include:
- Hepatitis B
- Influenza (seasonal)
- Tetanus with Whooping Cough (Tdap) (ages 11 and up) or DTap (ages 7 and under)
- Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
- Meningococcal
- Polio
- Varicella
Visit-A-Bit Program

Music Appreciation Program
Providing listening enjoyment for older adults in St. Louis.
Our music appreciation program launched in 2021 to bring connection, peace, and joy to our patients and their loved ones. The program is in collaboration with local high school students, who volunteer their time and talents to play and record musical selections. Their compassion delivers happiness to all that listen.
About TRI-M Music Honor Society
TRI-M Music Honor Society is a national high school club that examines the intersection between service and music, urging musically inclined students to pursue activities that benefit the community. Their passion for music and helping adults inspired their partnership with VNA.
