What Camp GLOW Includes

Special Activities to Help Kids Process Grief

Since children often experience grief differently than adults, Camp GLOW is designed to specifically address children’s grief. During breakout sessions, campers decorate memory boxes to hold remembrances of their loved one, create scrapbooks of visual memories, and of course have plenty of time to laugh and play.

Parent/Guardian Support

Because loss affects whole families, we require that a parent/guardian attend Camp GLOW with their child to learn about the grieving process, including differences between adult and child grief. Camp GLOW holds a concurrent session for the adults while the children are involved in their various activities. The adult group will provide information and tools for the adults who are trying to help their children deal with grief and also grieving themselves.

Who Can Attend?

Camp GLOW is offered free of charge thanks to the generous support of donors to the SSM Health at Home Foundation of Wisconsin. The camp is open to any child who has suffered the death of a loved one, regardless of whether they or their family are served by SSM Health. Lunch, drinks, and snacks throughout the day are provided.
