God is Faithful Temporary Shelter (GIFTS)

Addressing the Needs of the Unhoused

SSM Health partnered with God is Faithful Temporary Shelter (GIFTS), a faith-based organization that provides housing and resources to men experiencing homelessness in Janesville, Wisconsin, to use art as a tool to provide hope and healing.

After earning an SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Janesville grant in 2022, GIFTS launched Heal.Create.Explore. – an art therapy program that provides a path of self-discovery while the men living at GIFTS await mental health care.

The program gives residents a way to express themselves and their feelings and begin to process painful experiences. Residents hosted an art show showcasing their work, raising nearly $900 to support the art therapy program and providing an opportunity for friends and family to celebrate their work.
