John Nguyen

Chief Administrative Officer

As Chief Administrative Officer of SSM Health, John Nguyen is responsible for driving key initiatives across the organization, with accountability for advocacy, governance, marketing and communications, and philanthropy efforts.

Mr. Nguyen became Chief Administrative Officer in September 2023 and brings 20 years of experience to the position. He most recently served as SSM Health’s Chief Strategy Officer, and prior to that as Chief Marketing Officer. He first joined SSM Health in 2010 and has held several progressive leadership roles since that time.

Prior to SSM Health, Mr. Nguyen worked for Catholic Charities, Missouri’s largest social service provider, where he oversaw strategy for multiple development, marketing and communications projects – specifically in the areas of homelessness, family integration and human trafficking, among others. At the Missionary Association, Mr. Nguyen developed national and international campaigns to support global humanitarian and disaster response efforts. He has also served as a consultant for a number of St. Louis regional and national companies, including Magellan Health Services, A.G. Edwards & Sons, and the Saint Louis Zoo. In 2005, he was honored by the Catholic Press Association for Individual Excellence. In 2008, he was invited by the U.S. State Department to host foreign leaders as part of their International Visitors Leadership Program. Becker’s Hospital Review named him to its list of “52 Great Health System Chief Strategy Officers” in 2022.

Mr. Nguyen received bachelor's degrees in communications/journalism and English composition from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Webster University in St. Louis.
