Level 2 Nursery In-Service
This course is for registered nurses that primarily work in level 2 or 2E nurseries and nurses that work in labor and delivery or postpartum units wanting to enhance their knowledge of level 2/2E nursery skills.
Program Goals
To provide education for consistent care regarding best practice in level 2/2E nursery procedures.
Topics include:
- Nasogastric (NG) and orogastric (OG) tube insertion, maintenance, and feedings
- Umbilical venous catheter (UVC) placement and management
- Lumbar puncture indications and assistance
- Needling the chest indications and assistance
- Surfactant administration
- Respiratory support in the newborn
