STABLE: Post-Resuscitation & Pre-Transport Stabilization of Sick Newborns
STABLE is a program based on extensive literature review, research and valuable input from nurses, respiratory therapists and physicians. The goal of the STABLE program is to provide concise guidelines for neonatal pre-transport stabilization activities to be used by community hospital caregivers. The intended audience of this course is staff working in labor and delivery, postpartum, Level I, II or III nurseries. It is also a valuable resource for staff working emergency departments, who may be involved with unexpected deliveries of sick and/or premature infants.
2026 Course Schedule
This educational program is designed for new healthcare personnel in the perinatal setting or as a refresher for experienced healthcare personnel.
Classroom temperatures do vary. Please bring a sweater or light jacket with you to ensure your comfort.

Note: Course fee does NOT include the cost of the STABLE Foundations module, which is a requirement for the new 7th Edition STABLE. Learners must complete the Foundations module prior to attending a STABLE course. Check with your unit educators or leadership regarding availability through your facility's LMS. Otherwise, you may purchase the course individually on HealthStream or NurseGrid Learn.

Learner Manual
The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program Learner Manual, 7th edition is required for the course. Manuals can be purchased through The STABLE Program or the American Academy of Pediatrics' websites. You may also ask your department leadership if a 7th Edition Learner Manual is available to borrow.
